Chair’s Letter
Dear Physics Alumni & Friends,
I am pleased to share our spring 2024 Physics Department newsletter. Among other news of recent faculty and graduate student awards, this issue contains profiles of two graduate students who work in high energy experiment and a research spotlight by a new faculty member on detection of nanohertz gravitational waves through pulsar timing. It also contains an appreciation of Prof. Eugene Dunnam, who died very recently, by two of his colleagues.
I can also pass along the good news that we had three successful faculty searches this year. Jiabin Yu in computational materials physics is coming to UF from Princeton University. In biophysics theory, Gabriel Birzu will join us from Stanford University. Sangyun Lee in low temperature experiment is coming from Los Alamos National Laboratory.
We are always grateful to the alumni and friends of the department for your generous support! Best wishes from everyone at UF Physics!
